What Motivates You, the Carrot or the Stick?
Your motivation works either of these two ways, or a combination of both, away from or towards.
You either move away from problems or..
Towards, goals, solutions and ideas.
Most people don't know which one they are nor how to use them to communicate and achieve your goals. How can you tell which one you use and how do you improve your ability to achieve more?
Your language of course. Listen to your words. Do you say things like, "there is a problem with that", or do you look at what could go wrong? There is nothing wrong with this by the way, it's just how you do things. But are you optimized?
Towards is easier to figure out. Our your goal oriented? Are you seeing what could be done without thoughts of what could go wrong? Do you buy into the idea before you look at what might happen if…
Here is the trick, you want to use both. And you want to use them in away from then towards. We will cover this in more detail in a short bit. Just for today I want you to figure out if you move away from, or towards.
