If You Don't Someone Else Will: What Is Time Management?

What we are talking about really is getting in control of your life.  Discipline.  If you don't contral your time everhting and everone will.  You have the same amount of time as everyone elese, it's what you do with it that counts.  And if you want to spend your time watching the sun set every night or build the next million dollar empire, you need time managment.

What is time management may not be a burning question on everyone’s mind, but it certainly is a practical question that busy individuals should address. In addition, not only should this question be answered, but it should be remembered on a daily basis.

Therefore, what is time management can be answered in two ways. The first response to what is time management can be answered by saying it is a discipline to take control of one’s time and that this control can be accomplished through the use of various tools.

Answered By Taking Control Of Time

One of the more accurate responses to the question of what is time management is the answer that an individual controls their time rather than time controlling them. It is a proven fact that if you plan out your time a number of positive results will occur.

One of the positive results of time management is that you take control of your time. In other words you set your own agenda. For example, if you have an appointment or a meeting at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and someone asks you to do something else during that time frame, you simply can affirm that your schedule is set.

Also, practicing time management is a productive way of being efficient. This efficiency is demonstrated as you organize your day and make the most of your time. That organization and management of your time will reflect work being accomplished, time given for others and time set aside for your own personal needs.

By taking control of your time through time management you may be able to reduce your stress levels, feel good about the use of your time at the end of the day and be a more productive and confident individual.

Accomplished Through Various Tools

In addition to answering the question of what is time management, a natural and additional question that may need to be addressed is how to manage time? Fortunately, there are many management tools available to the individual who wishes to manage their time more wisely. These various tools range from being simple to being more complex. The choice of time management tool depends upon the individual’s preferences and needs.

For example a simple calendar can be purchased by the individual to keep track of all of their appointments. These calendars can range from simple pocket calendars that contain all of the months of the year. Or, there are calendars that are more elaborate and are constructed where one page is entirely devoted to one day of the year. Generally, with these calendars there are other time management tools available. These tools could be a to-do list or an area on the calendar to make notes.

One other management tool that may be of interest is a personal electronic organizer. Some of the benefits to having this type of management tool are that you can electronically back up your data to your personal computer. In addition, a feature of your organizer may be the ability to conduct a search for a particular appointment, address or event.

One of the cautions associated with the use of this time management tool is the possible loss of information. Therefore, it is important that backup’s are made, on a regular basis, of important information.
