Maximizing The Gift Of Time: Importance Of Time Management
It is often said that there are two certain things that can be counted on in this life. Those two things are death and taxes. However, it can also be easily argued that there's not enough time in any given day to accomplish everything that an individual wishes to do.
Therefore, given the fact that there is only a certain amount of time to be productive, it is critical to discuss the importance of time management. Three methods that that can help an individual to honor the importance of time management are keeping appointments, remembering special days and having a to-do list.
Keeping Appointments
Whether an individual is in the business world, managing the family's time or keeping a social calendar the importance of time management is critical. Often, the time that is blocked out during the course of the day is due to appointments that are made and that need to be kept. Examples of these types of appointments could be meeting with a customer, scheduling a dentist appointment or ensuring that a family member arrives at a birthday party on the right day and at the right time.
The importance of time management in keeping appointments can be accomplished by keeping a calendar or utilizing an electronic organizer. When an individual keeps their appointments with others they are sending a powerful message. That message is one of honoring and respecting their own time and the time of others.
Remembering Special Days
Another way that demonstrates the importance of time management is remembering those special days in the lives of those who are loved and respected. By simply listing these special days in a time management tool the observer can remember those red letter days and plan ahead accordingly.
The importance of time management in remembering special days is seen in a number of ways. One such way that is an indicator of good time management is the reduction of stress. By looking in advance for those special days the person can take the appropriate actions needed to recognize that day in the lives of others. Being organized and prepared eliminates last minute preparations.
To-Do List
One additional method that effectively addresses the importance of time management is a to-do list. Relying on one’s memory to remember a chore or task that needs to be accomplished is often forgotten. This can lead to frustration and disappointment expressed by others when these thing to do are forgotten,.
Therefore, it is important to capture that item to do right away. This can be accomplished by writing it down, using a hand held recorder, or other method to capture that thought.
Making a to-do list shows the importance of time management in that the individual wishes to meet deadlines and the expectations of others when given certain responsibilities.
